Right Rotator Cuff Tendinitis

There really is just one word for rotator cuff tendinitis - Ouch!!!

I've tried treating it with anti-inflammatories. That didn't work. So, on Saturday, I had a cortisone injection into the shoulder. The specialist told me that out of 100 people, 90 will find it helps, while 10 will experience greater pain for a few days. Guess which category I fell into. Uh huh, the latter.

I hope it gets better soon, it keeps me up at night. And if I'm going to be kept up at night, trust me I'd rather it was something else other than a sore shoulder. Plus, it's getting almost impossible to reach up and back to hook and release my over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder!!!

Have you tried acupuncture yet? It might be a viable alternative to having it operated on. I'm guessing there's no shortage of qualified practitioners near you.

I hope it get better soon Fiona, take it easy.
And Matt's idea is a good one. Acupuncture helped my wife years ago with a shoulder problem.

Hi Matt - worth a thought. I want to rule out any actual damage before I start masking the pain. And you're right, plenty practitioners in these parts :)

Thank you Fusion, me too! Even if I only use it as a pain blocker it would be better than this stuff he's got me on, it makes me feel decidedly odd!

So, what can you do for the pain?

Fiona said...

Right now I'm taking dihydrocodeine, an opioid painkiller...but anything with codeine makes me feel odd. Mind you, I'll take the odd ahead of the pain anyday. It's the kind of pain that stops you dead in your tracks, takes your breath away and makes you feel nauseous. Bleh!

Hey, Fiona...I will echo the acupuncture thing also. Fixes most anything on the planet.

Also Breema, athough pretty esoteric, if you can find it, it's magic.

One more thing- MSM works miracles on anything having to do with anything connective tissue. It's cheap, take tons over a few weeks and see what happens.

Hugs your way!

You poor thing! that sounds awful. Not to mention the shot itself being painful.

I hate cortisone shots. They burn like heck going in!

And yes you're right there are other things that are much better to be awake all night for than a sore shoulder.

Gillette - thank you! I'm going to go in search of sulphur today.

Ob - it hurt like the dickens! He said I was very brave, I almost wanted to ask for a lollipop for being a good patient ;)

Maybe dear, it is life's way of telling you you are carrying too much of the world's weight on your shoulders. Tell off one of those freeloaders, and maybe some pain will be relieved? Let all of us out here who care for you, lift a few ounces off your back!

Oh Jac, that is so sweet! I'm tired, I look tired because it keeps me up at night. One more week for the injection to be allowed to do its stuff and then I'm looking for alternative relief!
