...And Once More, With Feeling

I just heard from the Specialist doing my scans. He wants me back tomorrow for another session. He's still sounding mysterious. Today it was: "I think I've found out what your problem is, but I need you to come in for another 45-minute session."

Considering he's completed the rotator cuff scan and he's obviously not convinced that's my problem, for which I've been treated for four months, what the 'f' has he found?!

My stomach churns.

Update Tuesday - well it was 'just' another tear but the last scan was showing only the fluid so he did another run of pictures and showed me them. This time it was much longer, I was in the machine for well over an hour, he had to adjust me and use a different coil and that worked fine. Thank you all for your support and encouragement. Next stop, orthopaedic surgeon.

I hate when they make it all such a big mystery. Don't they know we will take it and turn it into the worst possible scenario in our heads? I do not understand the rationale behind not being upfront and forthright about it.

Sorry, ranting away when I should really be telling you to hang in there, take a few deep breaths, relax, and you will handle whatever it is with grace. I should be telling you that because it is true.

Damn doctors, they just love being so "careful" not to say anything too soon, but in this "sue me" age I guess you can't fault them. Plus they don't want to let on that they really don't know as much about the human body and the ailments we contract as we give them credit for...
Take some deep breaths Fiona, and don't worry about it for now, it's undoubtedly something minor that they just want to confirm.

It stinks when they get all secretive and won't tell you over the phone. It's probably a cyst or something equally as simple

TS - rant away, I absolutely agree with all you said! Thank you, I'm hanging, breathing, trying to relax :)

Fusion - I guess so and I hope that this is the last one. I'm focussing on the smoothie place near the lab, on my way back to work, I'm going to reward myself with the biggest damn Spunky Monkey (Banana + Papaya + Pineapple + Pineapple sherbet) they have!

George - it had better be, I refuse to be sick, too much going on here!! :)

Well, to play devil's (or doctor's) advocate, did you ask him what he thought it might be?

At the least, until you have good reason to worry, don't waste the time and effort worrying about something that will probably turn out to be minor or nothing in the end. Worrying over something you have no control over won't make the situation one tiny bit better, and only makes you feel miserable.

I'm sure it just means 'we've found what the problem is so we're nearer to finding a solution'. Fingers crossed for you anyway, Fi. You'll be fine. x

Matt - it's hard having been through one cancer with my dad and the continuing one with my mum. Scans scare the bejusus out of me! Thank you for your encouragement :)

FB - turns out to be more of the same, thank goodness! Thank you, hugs :)

Fiona hope you find it reassuring that you now know what the problem is even if it does involve surgery. Can they do it as keyhole ? Hope you don't have to wait too long for it either.

Glad to hear that it wasn't some major disaster. Good luck with the repairs.
