Sichuan
This is a terribly tragic image to view, so you may not wish to continue. I loaded it lower on the page in case you don't want to look.
With China's one child policy, a whole generation has been wiped out in some villages and towns. When schools collapse while other buildings remain relatively intact next to them, this is not a natural disaster, it's a criminal act.

I was going to post my thoughts about the awful devastation but there are really no words. All I can say is this: If you are able to, please give.

So heartbreaking, and from the accounts of corrupt builders and shoddy construction, so needless as well...
Oh, and I never even thought about the one child policy. Somehow, that makes it all the more tragic, although losing any child is a disaster.
Heart breaking, gut wrenching....
When I read the warning about the picture I thought I could handle it. I thought it would have been one of those I saw online of a parent washing his dead child... I thought I could look at this picture and not cry because really, what could be worse than seeing a picture of a parent with their dead child? Well, I was wrong. This picture just ripped at my heart and immediately tears came.
I have been keeping up with the news on this event and it's so hard to watch. It's so hard to not watch as well, and I know it's far from over. I wish there was more I could do, I can only give little $$ because I am living from paycheck to paycheck as it is.
I know there were more peole that died as a result of the cyclone, but this one hit me harder for some reason. Probably hearing about these schools, and seeing the pictures online. A terrible tragedy indeed.
We've followed every minute of it. So sad, so very sad.

Oh my goodness....I never even thought about how devastating the loss is under one-child policy and your insight gave me the chills....
