Wow great artwork and vocals.
Nice !
The Paul Potts experience is a fantastic "feel good" story. Of course, it helps that he sang Puccini's Nessun dorma, one of my all-time favorite arias (from Turandot). Although I consider Luciano Pavorotti's rendition of this song the best of all time, Mr. Potts is certainly the equal of a Domingo or Carreras.
Gotta love it!
Fusion - the horses made me smile so big! I don't know why but they so appeal to me :)
Jonas - I'm with you on that - it's my all-time favourite too. I can't hear it without tears welling behind my eyes. It really does something to me. I had the incredible honour of seeing Pavarotti live here and when he sang that, mere feet from me, that amazing clear pure voice blew me away, I couldn't stop crying. For a mobile phone salesman, Paul is quite something - mind you he's Welsh and they sing all their lives :)
Oh...and those driftwood horses are WAY cool!
Oops. I hadn't seen your response when I posted my second comment. I get goose bumps and I cry whenever I hear Nessun dorma performed well. It's an amazing aria that grabs my heart each and every time I hear it.
Beautiful horses Fiona.
I just listened to the video clip, what a beautiful voice and a beautiful song, gave me goosebumps.
Those are gorgeous!
Wow! Two great finds Fiona! I quite enjoyed both. It surprised me how much I enjoyed his singing as I am not much of an opera fan.
The horses creep me out. I just find them icky. Guess i'm not very sophisticated in my art appreciation... :)
I do however totally dig the music. Maybe there's hope for me yet...
Jonas - Nessun Dorma just has it all for me. I hear the opening string and my breath catches :) I like the horses too!
Deb - I'm no full opera fan. I have tried it but it leaves me cold. If you can get a recording of just opera arias, rather than any full opera, I can guarantee you'll be hooked. Aida and Madame Butterfly contain some awesome arias :)
Oblivion - there are just some things that make my heart feel so glad :)
TS - nor am I but when you dig around opera, there are some really beautiful pieces hidden within the whole. I can't do whole operas though, I have tried though :)
Serenity - that's the magic of art. Not all of it appeals to all of us. I, myself, can't get my head around installation art ;) Each of us has our own 'taste'. I'm glad you enjoyed the auditory portion of the post :)
Those horses are magical. Love them.
They really ARE special, aren't the GEG :)
He won, FANTASTIC! It is beyond me how someone gifted with that voice can somehow not be aware of it and have a self-admitted confidence problem. It boggles my mind. I didn't like the comment about "what we have here is a little lump of coal that's going to turn into a diamond." Couldn't she just say we have a diamond?
The horses are stunning! I especially love the one that's sitting in the grass.
The singing - holy crap! I wasn't expecting that at all. First the shivers came in a rush through my body and then the tears. Wow. Wow. Just amazing.
Laurie Anne - I love the way he's so unassuming, almost shy about his talent. That is so refreshing to see compared with the no-talents who are out strutting their stuff all over the tv!
Anna - if I ever have a garden, I'd love one of those fellas in it. Nessun Dorma tends to have that effect, it's an incredibly powerful piece of music!
