Our suite at the Meritage Resort

Welcome to the Wine Country

The Wine Train

and our delicious lunch!

Groth Winery - it was so good, we came back to buy some more at the end of our visit to the other wineries

Golf in Carmel Valley

These little fellows started following me around, I felt like the Pied Piper

The Tickle Pink Inn - this was such a yummy bed

I seemed to attract a lot of bird wildlife on this trip !

Wine and cheese on the deck

The Pacific Coast Highway

17-Mile Drive

The seals in Monterey Harbour

I'd never seen Brussel Sprouts still on the stalk - at a little farm shop outside Castroville

We're still trying to figure out why there are so many pigs crossing the road in Carmel

Fiona that takes me back to my youth and the happy times I spent in that region - such a beautiful place. Glad you had such a great time and perhaps you should open an animal sanctuary when you relocate ?

WOW - fantastic!!!

But hey, what had me falling about laughing was the brussels sprouts - I didn't know you could get so excited about sprouts!
He-he-he! (Still giggling!)

Looks like a great place to have a vacation. Though these days, I'm not so big on wine. Now, whine on the other hand... :)

I looked at those pictures quite wistfully having lived in Northern CA for many years. It is beautiful there.

Oh and the pig crossing signs are because there are many wild boars who inhabit that area. I'm assuming you saw those signs down in the area around Carmel, right?

Charmed - I love the Tickle Pink too...the name alone had me wanting to stay :)

D - animal sanctuary - wonders how I'd get away with that with the prospective neighbours ;)

FB - I'm a city girl and we BOTH were in awe LOL - if I'd been able to take a stalk home, I would have done it!!!!

TS - YES!!! Just outside Carmel-by-the-Sea, heading towards Point Lobos. Well what do you know and we never even saw even one *L*

Hahahaha Sunny - I was mumbling under my breath 'hurry up you know I hate having my photo taken'!!

Everyone else...wonderful beautiful amazing time, I would love to go back some day :)

Aaaaahh....thanks for all the picks of my various stomping grounds. Reminds me of why I love living in a place where all this is just a few hours away. Yum.

Thank you for sharing your memories. I'm so glad you both had such a beautiful time. I could never travel with you, though... I'm terrified of birds.

Loving Annie - it truly is a wonderful area and it was second only to being with such a wonderful man :)

Fusion - nothing gets by you ;) Yup that was about 4:30pm after a great day and the views were breathtaking, but to be honest all I was thinking about was christening the bed of the room we hadn't even dropped out bags in yet :)

Maria - hiya :) It was the best time I've ever had in my entire life - and I wasn't the first to say it, he was :)

Ob - The wine train was a blast, the woman leading the wine-tasting was great fun and the three hours just went by way too fast.

Gillette - how wonderful to see those beautiful eyes here :) :) I could SO live there!!!

Anna - hahahahahahaha we had quite a few encounters with the gulls. They were flying all around me at one point while I stood there. I'd like to think it was my magnetism but I'm sure it was the danish pastries from breakfast *L*
